The Lady Sultans streak continues!
The ladies played Serrano at home and demolished the competition. The game was back and fourth with many turn-overs and rebounds. The Lady Sultans dominated Serrano's defense in the first half withjunior Jashae Lee making shot after shot. Coach Dean Serbus said going into the game the Ladies were going to work on communication and intensity. " We played pretty solid," said Coach Serbus.In the first quarter the Lady Sultans were dominanting at the top of the key and with lay-ups. At the end of the first it was the Lady Sultans leading 28 to 13. "We kept our poise and intensity," said senior Lisa Pele. In the midst of the game it was becoming chaotic with fouls from both teams. The Lady Sultans made most of their free throws, but Serrano didn't have the same luck as the Lady Sultans did. In the second quarter the Lady Sultans turned it up and dominated Serrano's defense and offense. Serrano's offense was picked apart by sophomore Brittany Richardson. With picks every quarter, the Lady Sultans owned the ball the first half. "Our bench was just stronger," said Coach Serbus. In the third quarter both coaches were feeling the intensity as the Lady Sultans began letting Serrano come back. They were making all their lay-ups and free- throws. Coach Serbus motivated the girls to get back on ball and communicate. "I needed to make better decisions," said Lee. But with the victory in sight, they found the intensity that kept them alive the first half.
Serrano was feeling the stress when the fourth quarter camearound. The Lady Sultans took over the court with their intensity and aggresion with the ball. With a minute left the Ladies managed to get in one more shot, and made it! |
